Hello everyone and welcome to Market Fantasy!

After sixteen weeks of regular season play, the FOW mostly held steady last week, ending at $748.75. This is down .8% from a week 15 close of $754.47. Overall, the FOW is still down 7% on the year. Staving off the losses were particularly strong performances from David Wright, Jose Bautista and David Price. Price has largely been a disappointment this year with injuries and weak performance, but with five wins and a 1.65 ERA in seven starts off the DL, he appears to be back on track
On the downside, Pedroia weighed down the index the most this last week, posting a loss of a whopping 10.5%. Over the last two weeks, he’s in the middle of a 3/39 slump with an amazing(ly bad) .217 OPS. Maybe his thumb injury is bothering him, maybe he signed a $100 million contract and doesn’t care anymore, or maybe he’s upset I traded him for Mike Trout a month ago. Whatever the reason, he’s been remarkably bad. Co-leading the downward charge with Pedroia is CC Sabathia. While he’s striking out over a batter an inning in his last 30 innings, he is also sporting a bloated 1.73 WHIP leading to a 6.60 ERA. He has managed one win with those numbers somehow, but the rest is just ugly.
Lastly, are there chinks starting to emerge in Chris Davis’ armor? The slugger posted an almost 8% decline over the week. While he’s returned 200% this year, is some of the glow starting to fade? After ruling baseball in the first half, since the All-Star break, he hitting just 8/39 with a .538 OPS and only four RBI and zero homeruns. Probably just a small glitch along the way, but still concerning considering not even his mother predicted this year. Maybe Miggy can win the Triple Crown again this year after all.
Thanks for reading everyone!
