Hello and Welcome to Market Fantasy!

After 14 weeks, the Football FOW is up 3.7% on the year after posting a modest 0.2% gain the past week. As you would expect from such a modest week over week gain, there were no really big movements in either direction from any players. The largest loss was the Bengals DST being down 8.4% after getting shellacked by Indy. The biggest gain was Larry Fitzgerald posting a 5.5% increase in value after catching yet another touchdown on top of 96 yards receiving.

There is a new addition to the FOW this week. With news that Rob Gronkowski’s short season is over, we welcome Vernon Davis to the index. Davis is currently the number two scoring TE year to date, and his numbers actually look very similar to Larry Fitzgerald’s. For a look at the real life DOW and the history of stocks that have made it up, check out my post here.

With no real movements to talk about last week, I want to touch on the Aaron Rodgers problem. Normally, I don’t like to kick players out of the index if they are hurt but scheduled to return. I don’t know what to do with Rodgers though. He has started practicing again, but doesn’t appear on track to start week 15. I think this is going to come down to what the Packers do this weekend. If they lose, their playoff hopes are all but dead, and I can imagine Rodgers’ season will have the plug pulled. If they win, however, I can see them throwing him out there in a desperation move. Either way, he’s unlikely to recoup much value. This might be his last week in the index as much as it pleases me to watch any Packer’s value plummet.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading and keep checking back for more features and analysis!
