Hello and Welcome to Market Fantasy!
What a crazy week we had this past week in football! The FOW is up 0.7% this week and 4.4% on the year despite some all world performances. We all know about what Jamaal Charles did, but can you believe he wasn’t even the biggest gainer this week? That title would go to the Seattle defense. After their five interception, three sack, shutout evisceration of Eli Manning and the New York Football Giants, the Seahawks posted an 18.8% increase on the week. Despite those two big gains, the FOW made only a modest gain on the week due to poor performances from key players and a rash of in game injuries.
Week 15 started ominously for the FOW with Peyton Manning and Demaryius Thomas posting duds Thursday night against San Diego. From there, it only got worse as Larry Fitzgerald and Victor Cruz both left their games with injuries. Combine that with Aaron Rodgers missing another game and Adrian Peterson sitting out, and the FOW could’ve seen a big drop. Helping to prop up the index were solid gains from a couple of Cowboys, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten, who both posted solid gains in a heartbreaking loss.
I touched on the Aaron Rodgers problem last week. The Packers won and he’s started practicing, so I’ll keep him in there for now. It looks like we’ve seen the end of the line for Victor Cruz, though. Cruz suffered a couple injuries in the game Sunday and his season is probably done. I’m guessing next week we’ll have Josh Gordon in the index. Crazy what he’s done this year. He missed the first two games and still leads the league in receiving yards and is second in fantasy points due to Calvin Johnson having a couple more touchdowns.
